Inflation

1/30/2022

Here in the U.S., inflation is rising and doesn't seem like it's anywhere near stopping.  Price of fertilizer has gone way up, which in turn creates more costs for growing food.  There is more inflation coming, it's not really a matter of if anymore.  It's a matter of how much will costs go up and what won't be available?

We all hope that everyone is managing to stay head above water in these difficult times.  Growing your own small garden can be done anywhere.  Even one tomato plant will give more than a few tomatoes.  It's nice to see things grow and oh, so tasty.  Or perhaps try growing basil and then cooking pesto spaghetti from it.  A couple of small herbs or a vegetable or two growing in pots can also make living spaces more friendly and relaxing.  If you have a yard, try a small garden.

The act of growing food is liberating, even if in some small manner.  There are many benefits and few downsides making it something worth trying.

What activities can we do to keep the body healthy?

1/23/2022

Specifically, what kind of exercises will help keep us healthy?

Water exercises are usually among the list of things that health agencies/companies/hospitals/etc recommend.  There are many types so find the right exercises for you, from regular swimming to water aerobics to general exercises.

Short list of examples in the link below.  This is just to give you some idea of what can be done.
https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/fitness/multimedia/aquatic-exercise/sls-20076730

Martial.  Tai chi seems to have a place in the list.  However, one must find a very good instructor.  There are a lot of people who just teach forms and want you to primarily learn them.  There is far more to some martial studies than forms and that is where the benefits to health starts.  Forms are not going to help much with a healthy body.  It's what internally powers the forms that matter.  This also applies to yoga.  While modern yoga will get you to stretch and become more flexible, it lacks the inner strength teachings that are the core of what makes yoga worth learning.

Walking.  An overall good exercise that can be done in many places.

Aerobic.  Some form of aerobic exercises.  Running/jogging.  Jump rope.  Biking.  Elliptical machine.  Racquetball.  The list is long.

Many gyms have free weights to machines.  In this, though, I differ than many.  I use the internal teachings of the martial studies and only use those things at the gym to help with cardio.  I do not train anything that's weight resistant based.  For example, curls with free weights. That's just training one specific set of muscles and ignoring the entire body.  While it might give one stronger biceps and/or triceps, it also negates many of the internal training health benefits.

What matters is getting and keeping the body healthy.  If you find a program that works for you, that's great.  Keep at it.

2022

1/16/2022

We have started a new year.  And what a start it is.  The shortages of certain products has continued into 2022.  Vehicle prices are still outrageously high.  In certain instances, a used truck is selling for more than it was brand new.  And amidst all this carryover from 2021, we are now looking at new shortages in the supply chain from various sources.  Many are seeing grocery shelves becoming bare or not very stocked.

This reminds me of an old story set during World War II.  I don't think it's based on true events, but who knows... it could be.  A battleship out on the ocean was crewed half by old, grizzled veterans, but half the crew was brand new recruits.  A German submarine spotted the battleship and hit it with its torpedoes.  As the ship sank, the grizzled veterans sighed and said, "here we go again."  The new recruits panicked and ran around screaming, "oh god, this is the worst that's happened to me."   Those grizzled veterans survived the sinking but many of the new recruits did not.

Life has many ups and downs.  How we handle them impacts how we survive.  If times are tough, find a way to keep your spirits up.  Keep hoping.  Keep working towards getting better.  Seek out those who are a positive influence.  Just as those grizzled veterans knew when the ship went down, they'd lived through other tough times and they'll live through the current tough times.  Don't panic and carry a towel (A little humor from The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy book).

Beyond The Physical

1/9/2022

Mark 12:19-25
19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

There are many important aspects to life in our physical world.  While we focus on Body, Mind, and Spirit, there is more to our lives than just the time we are in our physical bodies.  As Jesus answered the Sadducees, the place we go to after we die is nowhere near what we understand now in this physical world.  When our physical body dies, our soul moves on and as Jesus notes, "are as the angels which are in heaven".   That place we go does not have any connection to the physical world, so all things physical are gone.  Even those mental things that are connected to the phsyical are gone.  All wants, needs, envies, hopes, cares, pains, desires, etc are not there. It is a pure energy divorced from the physical.

So if all of that goes away when we die, why do we focus on things here in the physical world?  If we look at John 14:5-6, Thomas asks, "Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?" Jesus answers "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."   It would seem that there are things we must do while here in the physical world that helps us move onward when we die.  Life here does matter.  What you do matters.

Irrepairable Harm

1/2/2022

I have added a link below with some quotes from it.  Be sure to read the entire article.

While Freedom comes with inherent dangers, most especially the danger of free choice, it is still one of the highest ideals to keep.  With that said, we focus on mind, body, and spirit to help remain Free.  In today's world, remaining Free is not always the easiest choice.  However, we must take a stand against those that push a product that contains irrepairable harm.  Death is irrepairable.  While the article doesn't come out and state it, the only major difference from 2020 and 2021 is the Covid Shots.

There are numerous articles stating that these shots are causing heart issues.  But, they are getting harder to find as censorship is running amok.  Your life, your choice.  But we stand against the Covid Shots.  They violate our principles for body, mind, and spirit.  We do issue religious exemptions and we hold to those values.  We believe that the Covid Shots are causing the higher death rates.

Please be mindful of your body and spirit.  Research everything as fully as you can.  Be aware of what's out there.  Don't blindly follow the CDC, NIH, News Media, or politicians when it comes to your life.  They are not looking out for you ... Only you can do that.

Indiana life insurance CEO says deaths are up 40% among people ages 18-64
By Margaret Menge | The Center Square contributor Jan 1, 2022

“The head of Indianapolis-based insurance company OneAmerica said the death rate is up a stunning 40% from pre-pandemic levels among working-age people.

“We are seeing, right now, the highest death rates we have seen in the history of this business – not just at OneAmerica,” the company’s CEO Scott Davison said during an online news conference this week. “The data is consistent across every player in that business.”

OneAmerica is a $100 billion insurance company that has had its headquarters in Indianapolis since 1877. The company has approximately 2,400 employees and sells life insurance, including group life insurance to employers in the state.

Davison said the increase in deaths represents “huge, huge numbers,” and that’s it’s not elderly people who are dying, but “primarily working-age people 18 to 64” who are the employees of companies that have group life insurance plans through OneAmerica.

“And what we saw just in third quarter, we’re seeing it continue into fourth quarter, is that death rates are up 40% over what they were pre-pandemic,” he said.

“Just to give you an idea of how bad that is, a three-sigma or a one-in-200-year catastrophe would be 10% increase over pre-pandemic,” he said. “So 40% is just unheard of.””

...

“Most of the claims for deaths being filed are not classified as COVID-19 deaths,

Davison said.“What the data is showing to us is that the deaths that are being reported as COVID deaths greatly understate the actual death losses among working-age people from the pandemic. It may not all be COVID on their death certificate, but deaths are up just huge, huge numbers.””
